Gatare invades every nook and cranny of your being in waves of wild wonder and crashes on your pallet leaving you in a state of devastated ecstasy. So go grab your fireman's hat and meet big Bri at the piano in the sandbox - stat!

This is our second coffee from Rwanda of the season and the second coffee we’ve sourced from Aleco over at Red Fox and let me tell you, that dude can pick some winners. Gatare picks up right where the Kibirizi left off delivering a cup as complex as it is elegant. You’ll get flavorful hits of kiwi, green apple, peach, tupelo honey sweetness, and a nice graham cracker finish. If you’ve been thinking about trying a more complex African coffee, this is your new jam.
Toss 22 grams of the Gatare into the V60 and pour 350g of water over the top. Shoot for a brew time right at 3:30 minutes. The resulting brew will be like a rainbow of flavor in your mouth and there’s a dang good chance you’ll grow a unicorn horn!
The Gatare washing station was built in 2003 and was one of the few washing stations in the country to process cherry for specialty coffee at the time. Elevation here is 1765 MASL and up, and climate is very similar to Kanzu. The washing station and region have the potential for greater volume in the years to come and we’re looking forward to more brilliant coffees ahead. These lots are full of big, bright, clean fruit — red currant, lychee, kiwi, and peach — along with honey and cane sweetness, and candied ginger and citrus peel.
